The Atlántico industrial corridor isn’t one — it’s several
Barranquilla concentrates an unusual industrial mix: food and beverage manufacturing, chemicals, plastics, metalworking, textiles, assembly and a strong logistics component —fluvial-maritime port over the Magdalena River, Free Zone and corridors to Cartagena and the interior—. Add power generation and distribution, plus a growing weight of the digital economy. In practice, that means plants with mixed instrumentation (Allen-Bradley, Siemens and Schneider PLCs coexisting), old scales held together with scripts, corporate ERP (SAP, Oracle), and operations that half-migrated from Excel to dashboards.
Where we usually add the most value
Three patterns we see repeating in Atlántico:
- Closing the plant–ERP loop: scales, packaging lines, batching and batch processes still logged manually or with fragile interfaces. We connect them via OPC UA, Modbus TCP, RS-232/485 and REST, push data to SAP/Oracle, and consolidate a data warehouse (PostgreSQL + dbt) with real KPIs: OEE, scrap, batch tracking, traceability.
- Utility and cold chain monitoring: utility rooms, compressors, chillers, cold rooms and freezing tunnels with 24/7 telemetry, multi-channel alerts and HACCP/GMP reports. Over InfluxDB/TimescaleDB, Grafana and, when business users request it, Power BI or Metabase.
- Applied analytics and AI: anomaly detection on vibration and energy consumption, predictive maintenance where 12-18 months of telemetry already exist, and computer vision on existing CCTV (headcount, PPE, yard intrusion).
River and port logistics
Barranquilla is the main fluvial-maritime port of the Colombian Caribbean. For cargo operators, terminals and fleets we deliver fleet and asset telemetry (GPS, level sensors, MQTT, PostgreSQL ingestion), React operational dashboards and integration with TMS and ERP systems. In zones with intermittent cellular coverage we reinforce with buffering gateways and hybrid links.
Local operations from Bolívar
We’re based in Turbaco (Bolívar), an hour and a half from Barranquilla. We coordinate on-site visits for surveys, commissioning and support when needed, while monitoring and alarm handling run remotely 24/7. For customers in Soledad, Malambo and the Free Zone the model is the same: local presence without idle overhead.
