Industrial IoT, telemetry and remote monitoring in Santa Marta, Colombia

We support coal port operators, thermal power generators, banana and palm agroindustry, and Magdalena logistics operators with custom IoT, telemetry, telecom integration and analytics over existing operations.

Why Santa Marta is industrially atypical

Santa Marta combines three very different economies in one region: the coal and bulk port —one of the most active in the Caribbean—, thermal power generation along the coast, and a strong agroindustrial belt around banana, palm and fruit, with operations scaling into the Ciénaga–Aracataca–Fundación corridor. On top, part of the operation is remote and hard to cover (farms, packing houses and plants scattered toward the Sierra Nevada and southern Magdalena), where cellular fails and fiber doesn’t reach.

That mix forces solutions that serve three worlds at once: port, power and agro, each with its own instrumentation and regulatory requirements.

Areas where we work

  • Port and bulk telemetry: truck and rail weighing, conveyor and dump monitoring, ambient sensors in yards (particulate matter, noise, wind), GPS and fleet telemetry with MQTT and PostgreSQL ingestion, and KPI consolidation in a data warehouse for regulatory and SLA reporting with generators and exporters.
  • Thermal power and substations: SNMP/Modbus monitoring of equipment and networks, telemetry of electrical variables (current, voltage, power factor, temperature), multi-channel alerts and 24/7 Grafana dashboards.
  • Banana, palm and fruit agroindustry: LoRaWAN and NB-IoT sensors at farms (humidity, temperature, irrigation, tank levels), packing-house weighing integrated to ERP, harvest and export fleet telemetry, and cold chain monitoring for export operations.
  • Connectivity for remote zones: at sites where cellular is marginal we apply Starlink with bonding/SD-WAN and hybrid LTE + satellite links, maintaining telemetry and remote operations without dropouts.

AI and analytics where the data already exists

Much of the value in Santa Marta is buried in historical records that are already captured: scales, conveyor telemetry, substation readings, irrigation cycles. We apply anomaly detection and predictive maintenance on time series, and computer vision on existing CCTV —headcount, PPE, intrusion and bunch counting at packing houses—.

Based in Bolívar, covering Magdalena

We operate from Turbaco (Bolívar). For Santa Marta and the Ciénaga–Aracataca–Fundación corridor we coordinate on-site visits for surveys, commissioning and critical field support, while keeping monitoring and alarm handling running remotely 24/7. It’s the model that best fits operations distributed between port and farm.

Frequently asked questions about projects in Santa Marta

Do you work with port terminals and coal operators? +

Yes. We deliver telemetry and integration for port operations and coal terminals: weighing, fleet transport, ambient sensors in yards, conveyor monitoring, and operational data consolidation in a data warehouse for regulatory and SLA reporting.

How do you handle remote farms and plants in the Sierra Nevada or banana corridor? +

At remote farms, packing houses and plants we deploy LoRaWAN/NB-IoT sensors with edge gateways, and where cellular fails we apply Starlink with bonding/SD-WAN to keep telemetry and remote operations running without dropouts.

Can you integrate SCADA and scales with the ERP? +

Yes. We connect PLCs and SCADA via OPC UA and Modbus TCP, integrate weighing equipment (truck, hopper, batch) with SAP/Oracle or other ERPs via REST, and consolidate data in PostgreSQL/InfluxDB with Grafana or Power BI dashboards.

Do you serve thermal power generation and substations? +

Yes. For thermal generators and substations we deliver SNMP/Modbus monitoring, telemetry of electrical variables, 24/7 alerts to operations, integration with existing management systems and analytics on consumption and events.
